Vineyard Spin is a full-service DJ company that specializes in creating unforgettable moments through music. We understand that music is a vital component of any celebration — from weddings with hundreds of guests to intimate dinner parties. We take the time to get to know our clients and tailor the music to their unique tastes and vision. Thanks to our technical expertise and reliance on professional audio equipment, we are able to provide amazing sound quality for events of all sizes. We’ve been getting the party started on Martha’s Vineyard since 2017.

Meet DJ DERN
I was born and raised in Runaway Bay, Jamaica — a place where music is so common that you only notice when it’s not playing.
I was hooked on music at a young age, when I’d try to sweet talk my dad into letting me turn off RJR News and put on a Beres Hammond or Dennis Brown record. I bought my first 8-track cassette player at age 12. As I grew older, I took my skills out of the living room and began playing at stage shows, street parties and sound clashes. While I am not a reggae or dancehall DJ (I spin - and enjoy - most genres of music), my roots in Jamaica inform my mixing style, which focuses on creating smooth, seamless transitions between songs.
In 2012, I moved to New Orleans, Louisiana and began DJing for I&I Sound System - spinning at clubs, universities, private events, and festivals. In 2014, I moved to the Boston area, where I began investing in my own equipment, connecting with other DJs and promoters, and booking solo gigs. In 2017, I moved to Martha’s Vineyard, seeking community and a slower pace of life. I linked up with R&B Entertainment’s DJ Smooth B, a close friend and collaborator, and learned that there was a need for high-quality, professional, experienced DJs on Martha’s Vineyard. My business has grown steadily since then, almost entirely due to word-of-mouth recommendations from happy clients.
Music is my passion, and staying on the cutting edge of music and technology is how I express that passion. When I’m not DJing, my interest in technology carries over into my job as a low voltage electrical technician. You’ll also find me coaching and playing volleyball, running, biking, listening to podcasts, cooking, and spending time with friends and family.
Meet Rachel
Rachel is the details-obsessed booking coordinator at Vineyard Spin, where she gets to indulge her love of both music and spreadsheets.
Rachel grew up on Martha’s Vineyard and has worked as a project coordinator in the private sector, so has a deep understanding of the planning involved in creating successful, stress-free events.
From setting up a call between you and DJ Dern to coordinating the date of a walkthrough and confirming your run-of-show, Rachel’s logistical savvy ensures that no detail is overlooked. If you appreciate clear communication and a “let’s make it happen!” attitude, then working with Vineyard Spin is likely to be a perfect fit.
When she is not coordinating bookings for Vineyard Spin, you can find Rachel teaching, reading, or running late for yoga. She has been married to DJ DERN since 2012.
